Bio: After the Second Wizarding War, with Bellatrix and Rodolphus Lestrange dead and the family and their assets now under incredible scrutiny by the Ministry of Magic, the long standing pure-blood family line seemed in ruin. Indeed, the Ministry of Magic had every intention of imprisoning the majority of families affiliated with the Dark Lord but they did not expect to find a young boy of no documentation hidden away in his room in the Lestrange mansion. Young Verin seemed utterly disinterested in the Aurors who came busting down his bedroom door. He only stared out of the window, even as they dragged him out of the room. After interrogations with the other members of the family and the Lestrange estate's House Elf servants, they learned he always stared out of that window. They also found out who he actually was. They had all suspected it - feared it, really - when they had first seen him but there had never been any record, any whispers that he even existed. The other disjointed members of the Lestrange family were quick to sell him out as the son of Bellatrix and Rodolphus, kept hidden away from all of the world except for the family and the Dark Lord. It was, as the few aunts, uncles, and cousins of Rodolphus said, to protect the family line in the event that the family should fall. They could not have gotten the boy out of the house even if they knew the Aurors were coming in just short moments. The estate was surrounded with anti-apparition charms and its connection with the floo network completely cut off. However, one of the family members confessed that even if they could have gotten him out safely, they would have sooner left him there and saved their own hides.
When speaking with the boy, Ministry officials described him as being "out of focus," constantly staring off into space and rarely speaking. When he did speak, it was mostly random observations unrelated to the questions he was being asked, usually about the Ministry's architecture and something about "the voices downstairs." He did manage to answer yes or no questions rather easily, confessing to his parents' identities, to having never left the inside of the mansion, and to having rarely seen his mother or father during his short life. The men and women of the Ministry of Magic there on that day agreed that the boy could not be grouped in with the rest of his family. He barely had any knowledge of the war at all. Since he had commited no crimes and was not an accomplice to the Lestrange's activities, and only just a boy, they took pity on him and rather than shut him away from society like his parents had done all his life, they inducted him into it. Soon, he was enrolled at Hogwarts and boarding the shining red Howarts Express to his first year at school. In the first several moments of being there, Verin changed drastically. It began the moment he saw the train and escalated until he was like a different child entirely. No longer disinterested with the world around him, his bored eyes livened and his attention came back to his surroundings, as if seeing for the first time. He never wanted to leave. He had been denied so much his entire life and now he wanted it all. He looked around and saw all of the other students and the possibility of making allies, something he had never had before. He saw the professors and thought of all the great magic they must know and how they defended this castle against even the Dark Lord. He wanted that power. He wanted to learn everything he could. He wanted to know every last scrap of magic in the world. He wanted every single person in this school to adore him, to praise him, when no other had. Not only did he want it all, he knew in that moment he would achieve it all. He had to. There were no other options. When his name was called and the room fell silent and he stepped forward and had the Sorting Hat placed on top of his head, everyone held their breath. The Sorting Hat bellowed "SLYTHERIN" after barely a moment's deliberation and it seemed the Great Hall became even quieter until the Slytherin table erupted into cheers and applause.

Personality: Verin has taught himself how to charm and manipulate everyone around him. His charisma shines through the darkness of the dungeons and his razor-sharp wit keeps many entertained. However, his past has left him calloused and his past year in Slytherin house has influenced his development. Though he appears charming, confident, and helpful, it's just a mask. Verin is bitter about the actions of his family. He views them all as failures. He is a puppeteer and at the end of the day what matters to him is how well he can pull your strings.
